Love Where You Live

royalcolors

Hello and welcome! I would like to introduce you to Royalcolors International and our unique2u digital decorating and staging services. Royalcolors International isn't bringing you a new concept, we aren't bringing you a new technology. What we are bringing you is a new way of accessing the technology that is out there.

Everyone wants to love where we live. But not everyone can afford to hire a professional interior decorator. So, what do we do? We scour the internet and the DIY television shows hoping to find a style that suits our life, colors that turn us on and a design that we can afford to make our own. We watch the videos and the advertisements, are encouraged by the "influencers" and the rich and famous. Don't get me wrong ... we all have our favorites. Mine are the Property Brothers, Love it or List it, Rehab Addict, Good Bones and Fixer Upper. It is wonderful to see what they do with the homes and spaces they have. But most of those houses and spaces are far bigger and nicer than many of us can boast.

What is out there for us? What is offered to those of us who don't have mansions or even mini-mansions? There are many design programs. There are videos that show us how to create and duplicate many of the lovely and exciting themes that we find. There are many companies offering design services if you would like to purchase their products.

But what DON'T we find?

How to figure out what - among all of those magnificent choices, suits the spaces we already have. How to incorporate the furniture and décor pieces that we already have into those wonderful design ideas we find. How can we turn those videos and DIY articles into reality ... especially with the budgets that we have? We look at the television ... and then look back at our space, then at the television, and then at our space ... and they just don't match.

With our unique2u service, we take the space you have, the furniture and décor pieces that you want to continue to utilize, and we marry them seamlessly with those videos, giving you the ability to see exactly how new colors and styles will look in your space ... because the finished result will be based on your space ... as it is unique to YOU, to YOUR comfort and your choices. Many times yes, we do have the ability to take what we find, and incorporate it into our space successfully. For those of you for whom this is an easy task, we say "good for you"! And we sincerely mean that. We're addressing those people who feel that they are not capable of finding the best color matches, the best design sets, the best functionality for their dollars.

I am personally NOT a fan of "influencers" for exactly what their name implies ... they "influence" us into choosing what someone ELSE likes, someone ELSE has, what someone else CHOSE. Is it any wonder that a month or even a week later, we almost invariably have buyers remorse and look for something else to cure our insatiable FOMO ache? Why not have what YOU want? Do you know what you want? Or have you never taken the time to sit down and figure out what that is? Well, now is your chance.

Our goal is to end that circle of dissatisfaction once and for all. A service where you show us the space you want improved, tell us your hopes for that space, the colors and styles that you would like to see in that space, and we will plug them all into pictorial representations of those choices. What does this mean? It means, that you will be able to see exactly what those choices will look like IN your space before you ever rip out a carpet or slap a paint brush onto that space. You don't have to brave your learning curve to navigate the design programs (unless you want to), you don't have to carry swatches from several stores home to see how they match up with each other ... we will put them together for you.

I have nothing really against influencers. Good on them if they can make a living. But I DO have a problem with telling someone what they should and shouldn't like or want. And that is what it seems that decorating has become. Every year we see what is new, what is hot, and also what is not. And what is NOT, almost always seems to be what we happen to have. And we're encouraged to follow the pack. Have you ever noticed, that if you turn to one program, they are taking a dark room and making it light. Turn the channel and they are taking a light room and making it dark. Turn it again, they open up a closed space, and then on another channel, they close up an open concept space. It never seems to be anything more than a way to get us to never be happy with what we have. I believe that what is best is what we can happily live with for a long time. Who really wants to change your rooms every season, or every year? If you do, good on you. But if you just want to find that perfect blend that you can't wait to sink into whenever you can, then we can help you.

Me, personally? I want my forever rooms. My favorite color is purple. I have never had a totally purple room because everyone around me constantly told me that that would be tacky. The colors that were "in" were usually never purple (until recently). And then, one day, while browsing through a copy of an old Town and Country Magazine, I saw a room beautifully done up in shades of lavender and purple and I absolutely melted. THERE was my perfect room. But it wasn't my room. See, this room was 4x larger than mine and the furnishings were more elaborate than anything that I had (truth be told, will EVER have). So I have never recreated the room. But I tore that page from the magazine and pinned it to my bulletin board.

It wasn't until years later that I was able to locate enough items and materials to make a credible go of my perfect purple room. But I was sharing space with family members that threatened to lock up my hammer and paint brushes if I even tried (sigh). I'm still holding on to that particular design. I still don't have my dream room. So what was the point of the story? (smile) The point was that at least I now have a plan. I know what I want. And as soon as I have a space that it will work in, it is going in. And many times it is satisfying just to know that we have a plan even if we can't implement it yet.

Many times we do not try something ... a job, a project, a new hobby ... because we don't actually have a plan. Just knowing what we want can make us feel a lot better about what we are dealing with in our lives. Looking for a new home? What do you want the rooms to look like? Do you know that real estate agents tell sellers to remodel certain rooms so that they can raise the selling price 10-20 or even 40 thousand dollars higher than if they didn't remodel the spaces? So, you go in and you see the lovely spaces they have created and you put in a bid on the house. And then, you think about it. Sure, the spaces were pretty, and well appointed in many cases, but were they REALLY what you wanted to live with? Now, you have to spend MORE money to make changes after paying for the changes that the seller made (go ahead, face palm if you want to, we all do).

Knowing what you want, what you like before you purchase a home makes it easier to save money and choose a home that has great bones, but might not necessarily be wearing the best "clothing". Having a plan means that you can shop for the drapes, wall coverings, flooring, and colors that suit you as well as the space and know that it is what you will truly want it to be. And that right there is a real money saver.

Are you selling a home? Advertising an apartment or remodeling a bed and breakfast? Do you need themes? Do you need to minimize foot traffic through the spaces you are trying to sell or rent? Digital decorating can show prospects what they can have, do or expect in the lovely spaces you are offering.

Or are you renting a space? You can't change the walls or the floors, but you can make temporary changes. And you need to know what you can and can't change. There is carpet and you hate carpet. But you have to take this space. Did you know that you can lay a floating floor over a carpet without destroying the existing carpet. In fact, it protects that carpet. Wouldn't it be amazing to get your total deposit back without shampooing the carpet when you move out? With a plan, with pictures of the whole space, exactly how you want it, can save you time, trouble and a lot of money.

College dorm? Apartment? Room over the garage? Basement remodel? Sharing a room with a sibling and want your own "space within a space"? Are you trying to explain what you want to your mate or your contractor? Do you have an idea in your head that you just can't seem to bring out in any cohesive manner?

Let us help you realize your dream space. It all starts with a functional plan. And YOUR imagination.
